The Bad Axe Elementary School provides a sound educational program for approximately 300 students in kindergarten through third grade. A before and after school Latchkey program is also available on the School campus.
The core curriculum (language arts, mathematics, science and social studies) and penmanship are taught by homeroom teachers. Students also participate in Art, Library, Physical Education, and Computer applications, which are taught by certified staff members. Additional academic and personal assistance is provided by a School Counselor, Mrs. Foy.
Bad Axe Elementary recently completed its five-year school improvement/North Central Accreditation (NCA) Plan. The Elementary has achieved District Accreditation thru AdvancEd. Full North Central Accreditation was received in 1989. In addition, the staff is committed to making curriculum changes necessary to align the buildings curriculum with the Content Standards and Benchmarks contained within the Michigan Curriculum Frameworks, Grade Level Content Standards, and Common Core State Standards.
